My Wife is the Best Wife.

This is a little bit off topic, but needs to be said.

I've got this monster project that's coming to fruition this week, and for the past month or so I've been something of an absentee husband and father. I cleared this with MHW before I committed to the project, but that didn't make it any less difficult for her to pretty much single-handedly hold down the fort while I was off doing my thing (or in the basement office doing my thing) and being very little help.

HW's been wanting to visit her family (who live a plane ride away) for a while, and we decided that this week would be a good week for her and Rachel to go, not least because with the project end so imminent, I was going to be less than companionable and at the same time easily distracted.

So she and Rachel went off yesterday to visit Saba and Safta (Hebrew for grandfather and grandmother). And while as a practical matter it was good they were gone, I still moped around the house for a good couple of hours, because it was all quiet and I already miss them something awful.

But I had work to do (as I do even as I write this entry) and I got down to it and ended up staying up way too late working on it and being (as predicted) very grumpy this morning.

But while I was getting dressed this morning, though, I stumbled on a whole pile of envelopes, each one addressed to me and with an instruction about when to open it. (Monday a.m, Monday p.m., Tuesday a.m., etc.)

I've opened two so far, and each one, while short, is this beautifully thoughtful and (so far at least) perfectly cast note, exactly anticipating and meeting how I'm feeling (both about the absence of my wife and child and about the upcoming deadline).

So I just wanted to put it up here. My wife is the best wife. I doubt I'll ever get to this level of bloggity romance, but still.

My wife is the best wife.[fn1]
[Fn1:] This is not to put down your wife, or you yourself if you're someone else's wife. There's Torah here, there is, really. About how my wife is the best wife for me and your wife is the best wife for you and so on. But I don't have the time or inclination to go into that right now.
All right. Back to work.

How sweet and thoughtful of her :) You should write a note back for each day and put them under her pillow to find when she comes home.
